How to Order

To place an order, please provide the following information:

In many cases, you order may include custom made components including brackets, dovetail plates, special hardware, an offset base plate, or a special instrument plate. Please provide diagrams of these components so we can fabricate the part to your specifications.

Method of Payment:

All orders require a 30% deposit. The balance of payment is due prior to shipment. Remittance should be made payable to Mathis Instruments in U.S. funds. MasterCard, Visa, American Express, personal checks, and money orders are accepted. Please allow 10 days for personal checks to clear.

Commercial and educational purchase orders are accepted. All orders will be sent a confirming invoice by email. California residents must add applicable sales tax.

Delivery Time:

Current delivery time for the MI-500 is 3 months. Delivery time for the MI-750 mounts is approximately 3-4 months, and delivery time for the MI-1000 is 5-7 months. Times will vary depending on our current work volume. Delivery time will be quoted at the time of the order.

Shipping and Insurance:

All mounts shipped FOB, San Ramon, California. Shipping charges will vary with destination. Mounts are normally shipped by truck freight. Gear drives and accessories are shipped by FedEx. Specific carriers can be used on customer request. Shipping costs will be estimated when placing an order. Adjustments to the shipping estimate will be made at the time of shipment.

The mount components are crated in rigid plywood boxes. In most cases, the shipment consists of one container for the polar assembly, one for the fork arms or German declination asembly, and one smaller box for the base plate, hardware and electronics. A typical MI-750 shipment would be the following:

Polar assembly 160 lbs, 72 Kg

Electronics, hub, and base 100 lbs, 45 Kg

ProductWarranty:

All Mathis Instruments telescope mounts have a three year warranty. Equatorial mount electronics have a one year warranty. Any component found to be defective should be returned to our office with the shipping charges prepaid. At our discretion, we will repair or replace the item. If the cause of the problem is determined to be normal use, defective materials, or errors in workmanship, then the item will be repaired at no charge to the customer. If there is damage due to other causes, the customer will assume the cost of repairs or replacement.

Returns:

If you are not satisfied with any item, please return it to us in original condition, shipping prepaid, within 30 days after delivery. As long as the equipment is in new condition, we will refund the full amount less shipping costs. The cost of any custom machined components will not be refunded.

Cancellations:

A customer may cancel an order at any time prior to shipment. Please send your request in writing stating the reason for cancellation. A refund will be issued less a 5% cancellation charge. The cost of any custom components that have already been made will not be refunded. Any bank charges incurred from processing the refund will be paid by the customer.

Our family of mounts are continuously evolving as we improve our product line. We reserve the right to make changes and improvements to our mounts.
